On 30October, 1925 a Society was formed in Jersey of ex-airmen who had served in the R.F.C. and early R.A.F. calling themselves the Royal Air Force Association of Jersey, and therefore Jersey can justly claim to be the oldest R.A.F.A. Branch in existence.
In 1930 an organisation known as The Comrades of the Royal Air Force was formed in Great Britain with membership open to those serving or who had served in the Royal Air Force, Royal Flying Corps, Royal Naval Air Service and Dominion Air Forces.
In 1943 the name was changed to the present title of the Royal Air Forces Association, and in 1953 the Royal Charter of Incorporation was granted by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
THE JERSEY BRANCH OF THE R.A.F. ASSOCIATION
Jersey Branch No. 0487 was formed on 18th April 1946, the year after the ending of the Second World War and the liberation of the Channel Islands to continue the work of the RAF Association of Jersey.
