THE RETURN OF SEEDY SATURDAY

‘Grow Jersey’ is re-launching ‘Seedy Saturday’ to bring growers together at Le Tâcheron Farm, Trinity

Local growers, families, and anyone curious about starting their own garden are invited to join a gentle Seed Swap event at Le Tâcheron Farm (Rue de Dielament) this weekend. The event aims to celebrate community growing, reduce waste, and help people discover new flowers and vegetables to try this season.

The Seed Swap is simple: Bring any packets of seeds — saved or spare — and receive one voucher for each packet. Vouchers can then be exchanged for other seeds on the day. Those without seeds to swap are warmly welcome to join in by making a small donation, which will go towards running costs.

The event will offer a range of flower and vegetable seeds, along with a small selection of seedlings for those who prefer a head start. Visitors can also pick up free pollinator‑friendly seeds and choose from a selection of free gardening tools, helping new growers get started without cost being a barrier.

Alongside the swapping, guests can enjoy tea, coffee, and homemade cake, and chat with friendly local growers about what to plant, when to sow, and how to support wildlife in their gardens.

Grow Jersey founder, Sheena Brockie, states “Seed swaps are a brilliant way to share abundance, reduce waste, and help people try something new. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just starting out, everyone is welcome.

We would especially like to thank Ransoms Garden Centre, Le Tacheron Farm and The Good Jersey Life for their support for this event.”

‘Seedy Sunday’ events used to take place at Le Rocquier School; the last one to be held there was in February 2020, just before the pandemic struck.
