The new season of ‘Moments Musicaux Jersey’ chamber concerts brings together brings together two of the most cherished works in the chamber repertoire.
It will feature the quartet of the London Mozart Players and Anika Vavic on the piano
The London Mozart Players Quartet joins Vienna-based pianist Anika Vavić for the first time in Jersey to perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4, in its chamber version, alongside String Quartet No 12, the ‘American’ Quartet.
Anika has performed solo recital in Jersey, as well as last season’s collaboration with Ballet d’Jerri. The Vienna-based pianist has collaborated with leading conductors, including Vladimir Jurowski, Valery Gergiev and Paavo Järvi, and has appeared at the BBC Proms, Carnegie Hall, the Vienna Musikverein and the Vienna State Opera. A former protégé of Mstislav Rostropovich and an official Steinway Artist, she is recognised for the depth of her interpretations, her distinctive artistic voice and her uncompromising musical integrity.
The London Mozart Players have become familiar guests to our series over the years. Although both have previously performed in Jersey, this concert marks their first collaboration in the Island.
The quartet is drawn from the UK’s longest-established chamber orchestra. It comprises four distinguished musicians united by a shared passion for chamber music. Their performances are characterised by musical insight, warmth and a genuine spirit of collaboration.
The new season is titled ‘Echoes of Beethoven’. The upcoming concert season reflects on the enduring influence of one of music’s most extraordinary composers as we approach the bicentenary of Beethoven’s death in 2027.
The season will explore how Beethoven’s musical legacy inspired generations of composers, including Brahms, Dvořák and Schubert.
The opening concert is on Saturday 3 October 2026; 7pm at the Town Church.
The season culminates culminating in an invitation-only Salon concert on 12 June next year, devoted to piano music by Beethoven and Schubert.
