Teeing Off for a Cause: Mark Tostevin’s All-Island Golf Challenge for ABC Jersey
At 4am on Friday 5 September, as most of the Island sleeps, local golfing talent Mark Tostevin will be lacing up his shoes and taking to the first tee at St Clement’s Golf Club, head torch on, heart full of purpose.
Mark is embarking on a never-before-attempted challenge – to play all six of Jersey’s golf courses in one day, in support of local breast cancer charity ABC Jersey. The day will culminate with a symbolic charity head shave at La Moye Golf Club, performed live by Claire from CocoRose Hair Salon, as players from the ABC Jersey Golf Tournament (also taking place on the day) cheer him on.
This extraordinary effort is about more than endurance. For Mark, the challenge is deeply personal: He said: ‘Both my grandmother and my mum have experienced breast cancer, and I know how hard it was – for them and for us as a family. It’s something that could continue to be part of our future, and I wanted to do something that raises awareness and gives back to the community that supported us when we needed it most. Golf is my passion – and if it can help others feel supported the way we were, then every early start and every swing is worth it.’
A documentary-style video will be produced of the day’s journey, capturing the beauty of the courses, the community spirit, and Mark’s commitment – as well as profiling the fantastic sponsors that made it possible.
The Route and Sponsors
Each course played throughout the day has been sponsored by a local business, offering not only financial backing but also moral support along the way. Mark will play the courses in this order:
St Clement’s Golf Club – Sponsored by Normans
The Royal Jersey Golf Club – Sponsored by All Pets Veterinary Practice
Wheatlands Golf Course – Sponsored by Rosscot Accountants
Les Ormes Golf Club – Sponsored by Joy Training
La Mieles Golf Club – Available for sponsorship
La Moye Golf Club – Sponsored by Princes Bar
ABC Jersey also wishes to thank the ABC Jersey Golf Tournament Sponsors which will be taking place alongside this personal challenge – Island Padel.
Rallying Community Support
ABC Jersey provides practical, emotional, and financial support to Islanders affected by breast cancer – from post-surgery bras and fitness programmes to food vouchers and home help.

In October, Jersey will turn pink, as ABC Jersey launches Pink Window Parade
ABC Jersey is inviting Islanders and local businesses to join in the Pink Window Parade, a community-wide campaign to raise awareness and support for Islanders affected by breast cancer.
The concept is simple: decorate your windows pink – with flowers, crafts, artwork or anything that speaks to your creativity – and help turn our Island pink in a show of unity and support.
‘Breast cancer doesn’t just affect women – it affects everyone around them,’ says Sue Frost, volunteer governor of ABC Jersey. ‘This campaign is about Islanders coming together, showing compassion, and helping us build A Brighter Community.’
100 local establishments have already signed up to take part and Islanders at home are also invited to join in. They can download printable bunting, posters and other resources from the ABC Jersey website, and are encouraged to get creative in their own way – from pink pumpkins to handmade crafts.
• The campaign has a fundraising element too: Islanders are invited to sign up on the ABC Jersey Sports Giving page and create their own fundraising pages to support the charity’s vital work (remembering to include their TIN so the charity can benefit an extra 25% through the Jersey Gift Support Scheme on donations over £50.
• Anyone who shares a photo of their pink window display (by tagging @ABCJersey on social media or emailing the charity) will be entered into a draw to win two tickets to the Jersey Estate Agent’s Diamond Ball in November. This is a fundraising event for ABC and FOJO.
‘Every pink window is a symbol of hope and a powerful reminder that breast cancer touches our whole community,’ says Sue. ‘We want Islanders to know they’re not alone, and that support is here for them.’
The charity is also working with local parishes to spread the word, and plans to profile some of the most creative designs from local businesses.
ABC Jersey offers financial, practical and emotional support to anyone affected by breast cancer in Jersey. Funds raised through the Pink Window Parade will help ABC Jersey continue to provide this vital support for Islanders in need.
